The marketing license, in 30 seconds

  • You own your film. Theam claims no ownership of it, ever.
  • You let Theam use the clips, trailer and art you upload to market your film — on your film page, in ads Theam runs, and on Theam's social channels.
  • That license covers marketing your film only. It ends when your page comes down.
  • Emails collected on Theam belong to the platform audience list. You can always export your own film's list; Theam may email that audience about other films.
  • No hate, no stolen work. Theam can remove pages that break this.

1. What Theam does

Theam hosts film pages, collects verified audience demand, and — where demand supports it — arranges theater tours and streaming distribution. Theam is a service provider, not a co-producer.

2. Ownership

You retain all right, title and interest in your film, trailer, clips and artwork. Nothing in these terms transfers copyright, and Theam acquires no revenue interest in your film beyond fees disclosed at the point of sale.

3. Marketing license

You grant Theam a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to reproduce, excerpt, display and distribute the materials you upload (trailer, clips, stills, key art, title, logline and credits) for the purpose of marketing your film and the screenings or streaming release of your film. This includes paid advertising, creator content commissioned through Boosts, email to the Theam audience list, and Theam's own social channels. The license is revocable by removing your page, subject to a reasonable wind-down period for advertising already placed.

4. Audience data

Email addresses submitted on Theam join a platform-wide audience list controlled by Theam, and may be used to recommend other films. Every message includes a working unsubscribe. Filmmakers may export the addresses that signalled demand for their own film and may not scrape, resell or export any other film's audience.

5. Content guidelines

No hate speech, no incitement, no sexual content involving minors, and no material you do not have the rights to. You warrant that you hold all necessary rights, including music and archival clearances. Theam may suspend or remove any page that breaks these rules, with notice where practical.

6. Boosts, tickets and payouts

Boosts are a media buying and creator-content service. Theam spends the boost amount on advertising and creator content promoting your film and reports what it funded. Ticket sales carry a disclosed per-ticket platform fee. Payouts are made after each screening settles.

7. Termination

You may remove your film page at any time. Theam may suspend accounts that breach these terms. Sections 2, 4 and 5 survive termination.
